So you want to have a spectacular event with the bells, the whistles and the glamour, but you don’t want to spend a lot of money to make your event pop!
Well, we just wrapped up one of our most talked about occasions we have ever had; our 25th Anniversary Celebration as the founder of OWN: onyx woman network took place at the beautiful Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in Pittsburgh. As always, we had a limited budget and small staff, but what we did have was lots of creativity. We wanted to give our guests an experience, not just another awards presentation.
So we started with a great team, our YSW lifestyle blogger and business strategist Jamila Taylor, and event concierge Violet Scott. We created a design theme, and of course chose some colors that were going to sparkle, shine and exemplify sophistication. We selected black, fuchsia and silver, which are the same colors that we use for our business.
Even the programs were designed to look like scrolls and when you opened them up they looked like posters. Those pink scrolls in the photo below where our programs. When rolled out, the guest could use them to follow the program.
The gift boxes that we prepared for our honorees also served as absolutely beautiful center pieces. They were stocked with beauty products donated from cosmetic companies from around the country. This saved us money on centerpieces.
Of course the menu is everything. We had 2 caterers, one for the food and we added bakery chief Dena Stanley who is famous for her cornbread-filled macaroni and yams with a piece of chicken on top. These desserts were the talk of the event.
There are awards, and then there are “awards”, we personalized all of our awards so that each honoree had a different style and convey a different message.
Our honorees and guests gave us rave reviews, and we could not have been more happy. Please stop back and join us for more design and entertainment tips. #yourstylishways
