I started visiting thrift shops when I was in college. After spending years working in retail, I understood the value of good clothing and that price doesn’t necessarily equal quality after seeing the price tags shrink by .75%, yet the quality didn’t change.
I earned a degree in fashion merchandising before heading off to college for a bachelor’s degree in marketing. During my years as a fashion student, I had the frustrating task of taking fibers and counting the ply to determine the quality of various fabric swatches.
To this very day, I am obsessed with good fabric and understand that fabric, craftsmanship, and quality make the garment, not the sale price. What someone else may have paid $500 for can easily become mine for only .10% of the regular.
Now that shopping experiences have evolved into more digital opportunities, we can sit in the comfort of home and let our fingers do the walking through digital platforms.
One of my favorite online resale stores is ThredUp. ThredUp offers an amazing opportunity for you to find gently worn and sometimes new clothing for an extremely large fraction of the cost. Check out some of my most recent finds.
I love black suede boots so much that before I knew it, I had 3 pairs.
This may be one of my favorite jackets. I’m in love with the design, and the tapered waist has such a feminine look.
Here are some of my favorite finds:
- I have wanted a pleated leather skirt for some time, and girl did I luck out. I love this skirt. It fits perfectly, and the length is exactly where I want it. This skirt was only $24.99; I would have paid much more.

Self-care Tip: At the end of each story on our blog, we tie in self-care advice. Our financial well-being has a lot to do with her emotional well-being. You don’t have to spend a lot to feel good about yourself. Do not equate expensive clothes with your self-worth.
