So I just started working for an academic institution and it comes with some rewarding benefits. I get to inspire students to do amazing work, I play a major role in coordinating the marketing for theater performances, and play front of house conductor. It’s almost a dream job!
As you can imagine this requires me to look the part. At least, when I’m not schlubing around my office or working remotely, and believe me… I can schlub.
I was hunting stalking dresses online for weeks to prepare for upcoming office assignments. But like most everyone I had a lot of priorities weighing heavily on my budget. So I did what anyone in my situation would do, I went to Walmart consignment shopping!
Consignment or resale stores offer an amazing opportunity for you to find gently worn and sometimes new clothing for an extremely large fraction of the cost. This time, I found my dresses at Clothing Mentor and I was even able to sell a few of my items to offset the cost. Woot woot! On my haul that day I got that adorable necklace pictured with super cute earrings that match. (Necklace & earrings $8)
I purchased this new with tags navy blue dress by Instyle. Plus those T-strap kitten heels in navy blue as well. I love this dress. It is so comfortable and versatile for many occasions. (Dress $12 shoes $12)
I was also able to purchase this red Calvin Klein a-line dress that I stalked online in another color. I think red is an awesome find especially since it’s such a powerful color. (Red dress $18)
Not pictured is the super cute black blazer with an angular lapel. It looks great on me and can be worn with jeans and a tee or as a second layer for dresses. (Blazer $18)
Total haul equaled $68 which was less than one of the dresses I was stalking new online. Also, the best surprise is that Clothing Mentor buys back clothes so I made $36 by bringing my things in for them to purchase. Total spent $32
